The History of Showstopper Graphics

The Accidental Graphics Business

To learn a little more about the history of Showstopper Graphics, read on to learn about our accidental graphics business. Sometime in May 2009, Bobby Menendez was making three-dollar movie-related vinyl stickers to sell in his family owned video stores, which he managed at the time. Seemingly overnight, this hobby turned into a full-fledged business. Selling small Punisher and Batman symbols led to inquiries about different, larger, and more complex jobs that he just couldn’t say no to. In a short amount of time, he rapidly added products, services, equipment, and most importantly, knowledge to satisfy the needs of his growing clientele.

Business Growth Leads to a Father and Son Team

Sooner rather than later, the business was thankfully flourishing to the point of Bobby being able to quit his managerial position at a big-box rental establishment to pursue Showstopper Graphics full time. This allowed him to say, “goodbye” to corporate retail.

With the business growing steadily, Bobby reached out to his father, Bob Menendez, to partner up with him. This familial partnership proved to be very useful for the company. Bob, a successful local business owner in his own right, would bring in some much needed help, labor-wise. More importantly, Bob also brought more than 30 years of business savvy to the table. In 2016, they opened up a brand new building in Nutter Fort, WV, with hopes of more growth according to the younger Menendez.

A Note from the Owner

“I’ve always loved small, local, and independent businesses. I grew up in it. Owning my own business and being my own boss was something I always knew I wanted. I love knowing the sky is the limit. To have no ceiling is inspiring. I can take this as far as my little heart desires. I’m also the kind of person that needs to be creative. So this is great. It’s just great to enjoy work. I wish that everyone felt that way about their jobs. I want to be known as the hardest working and most creative guy in the area. That’s a victory. I don’t see the point of working if you’re not going to work your hardest. Give it your all and try to be the best. Am I the best? That’s not for me to say – but when the best are being named I want to be in that conversation.” -Bobby Menendez
